Xiaomi takes the lead and launches a national key project!

According to official news from Xiaomi, the launch meeting of the 2023 National Key R&D Program "Intelligent Robots" Key Special Project - "Robot Automation Production Line Rapid Reconstruction Technology Project" led by Xiaomi was held on April 20th at Xiaomi Science and Technology Park in Beijing.

 


This project focuses on the research and development achievements of high-end manufacturing industries such as electronic products, which will help accelerate the formation of a rapidly reconfigurable large-scale customized production model and support the transformation and upgrading of China's high-end manufacturing industry.

Xu Guanyu, a professional organization in project management and a project specialist at the Industrial Development Promotion Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Zhao Jie, the leader of the Key Expert Group for the National Key R&D Program "Intelligent Robots", Hao Yucheng, a member of the National Intelligent Manufacturing Expert Committee, and seven well-known experts in the industry, as well as Yan Kesheng, Vice President of Xiaomi Group, Gao Liang, the project leader and Vice President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and more than 30 project leaders and core backbone members attended the meeting.

Yan Kesheng stated that in February 2024, the Xiaomi Changping Intelligent Factory with an annual production capacity of over 10 million units was officially completed and put into operation. The self-developed rate of the factory's testing package equipment reached 96.8%, and the self-developed rate of the software system reached 100%. At present, Xiaomi's self-developed complete production line equipment and intelligent manufacturing solutions have been preliminarily applied in the supply chain and industry enterprises.



Yan Kesheng introduced that the successful launch of this national key research and development plan project is also a milestone and achievement of the national level "3C Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Alliance" led by Xiaomi. In July 2022, Xiaomi Group established the first "3C Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Alliance" led by private enterprises in China. In the past two years, it has focused on meeting the common needs of the 3C intelligent manufacturing industry for good yield, fast line replacement, high reliability, and high production flexibility. It has overcome more than 20 key core technologies and formed a digital intelligent system with 159 types of intelligent manufacturing new equipment and 9 intelligent manufacturing software applications.

Xiaomi mentioned at the meeting that since last year, Xiaomi Group's strategy has been upgraded to a "full ecosystem of people, cars, and homes", relying on its self-developed Xiaomi Pengpai OS to connect all scenarios of "people," "cars," and "homes.". In 2023, Xiaomi's R&D investment reached 19.1 billion yuan, with 17800 R&D personnel, accounting for 53% of the total number of employees.

It is understood that the National Key R&D Program is currently one of the highest level R&D projects in China. The "Robot Automation Production Line Rapid Reconstruction Technology" project led by Xiaomi focuses on the needs of high-end manufacturing industries such as electronic products. By studying the rapid reconstruction technology of robot automation production lines and utilizing the characteristics of robots such as agility and flexibility, a plug and play robot manufacturing unit for new manufacturing modes is designed. High performance robot workstations for rapid reconstruction of production lines and mobile operation robot workstations adapted to multiple processes are developed to achieve dynamic reconstruction and configuration optimization of robot automation production lines; Developing a reconfigurable robot automated production line for rapid production replacement requirements in 3C scenarios, and conducting application verification for a certain mobile phone production line, will provide new solutions for large-scale customized flexible production capacity.
