The Israeli fire and rescue department stated that thick black smoke and explosions were heard from the factory where the incident occurred, and the fire has been extinguished. The police reported that a gas cylinder exploded inside the factory. The fire and rescue department stated that the incident involved nitrogen trifluoride, a toxic but non flammable oxidant.

The Israeli fire rescue department reported that an accident alarm was received at 14:12 local time, and an explosion and fire broke out in the Griyatgat Intel Fab38 factory area. The rescue team immediately dispatched 8 fire rescue teams, including a professional hazardous materials disposal team, to the scene to carry out personnel search and rescue and fire control work.

The latest news shows that a total of 3 workers were seriously injured and sent to the hospital, with 1 person in critical condition. The authorities initially suspect that the gas cylinder loaded with nitrogen trifluoride (NF3), a special process gas commonly used in semiconductor manufacturing processes, was the source of the accident.

The Israeli fire and rescue department stated that professional units trained in hazardous material handling are "evaluating the relationship between the relevant materials and this incident" and urging the public not to approach the incident area.

The cleanroom in Fab38 wafer fab is currently the only vacant cleanroom near completion for Intel, which is about to be equipped with public facilities and ready to enter for the installation of production equipment.
