The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States voted on Wednesday to ban the sale of equipment containing critical hardware from Chinese companies deemed to pose a "national security risk" in the United States.

This US telecommunications regulatory agency maintains a list of companies, including the two leading Chinese telecommunications equipment companies, whose equipment is prohibited from being sold in the United States due to national security concerns.

FCC Chairman Lundan Kahl stated that this move will completely plug component vulnerabilities, and devices containing logic function hardware components produced by Chinese companies will be rejected. Since 2022, devices produced by companies listed on this list are prohibited from obtaining new authorizations, but devices containing these enterprise components can still be approved for entry into the US market. The new regulations prohibit devices containing any hardware components with logical functions produced by these enterprises.

At the same time, the FCC previously banned the import of drones and routers, and now proposes to prohibit US telecom operators from interconnecting with Chinese telecom companies, which will essentially require relevant Chinese companies to stop operating their data centers in the United States.
