On May 28th, BYD held an intelligent strategy press conference, during which Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu officially released BYD's 567th automotive grade chip, China's first 4nm intelligent driving chip "Xuanji A3".

Wang Chuanfu introduced that this is China's first self-developed 4nm intelligent driving chip, supporting L3/L4 autonomous driving. Three chips can achieve over 2100 TOPS computing power for the entire vehicle, representing the highest level of intelligent driving chips in China. More importantly, it has started large-scale production.

The core specifications of the Xuanji A3 are very hardcore: car grade 4nm process, 16 core CPU, DMIPS up to 420K, bandwidth of 273GB/s, highest functional safety level ASIL-D, and a three chip combination with a vehicle computing power of over 2100 TOPS.

Wang Chuanfu emphasized that the difficulty of car grade 4nm far exceeds that of consumer grade 4nm. "Car grade 4nm is equivalent to 2nm of consumer electronics," and the chip needs to withstand extreme cold and heat tests, pass multiple safety certifications, and ensure stable operation for more than ten years.

In terms of energy efficiency, the Xuanji A3 has a 20% lower computing power consumption per unit compared to similar products, and can be deeply optimized with BYD's self-developed algorithm, increasing computing power utilization by 100%, making intelligent driving more responsive, capable of handling complex scenarios, and with higher safety limits.

Wang Chuanfu used a vivid metaphor: buying industry-specific chips is equivalent to buying a boutique house, which is effortless and worry free but cannot fully meet the needs; Self developed chips are like buying land and building villas on one's own, with huge investment but customizable according to needs, better performance, and faster iteration.
